Rado
Established: 1957Bielstrasse 45
CH-2543 Lengnau
It all began in 1917 in a modest house in Lengnau, Switzerland where three brothers, Ernest, Fritz and Werner set up their business Schlup and Cie, SA. By the end of WWII their factory was one of the biggest producers of movements worldwide. Rado was first used as the brand name in the 1950’s by which time it was exporting to over 60 countries. Today Rado is well known for its innovative use of materials and highly contemporary design. The materials selected guarantee lightness and durability. In fact, in the 1960’s the Rado Diastar was born with the promise of being the ‘First un-scratchable watch in the world’. The ceramic revolution in the 90’s saw Rado combine ceramic with titanium to give ultra-light but ultra -strong cases and bracelets. Key collections include the Rado Centrix which, as the name suggests, is all about what lies at the centre of the watch, it’s beating heart, the automatic movement. The Rado Coupole is an elegant dress watch with an unusual single lug connection to the case. The case itself has a tiny bezel leaving a very clear, open dial. The overall impression is a classic, refined, unobtrusive timepiece.
The Rado Hyperchrome is sporty and stylish, built with the Rado True thinline technology and crownless touch control feature for time zone readings.
